New sales center in Colombia
Modern offices in the heart of Bogotá signal a new beginning
Effective as of 1 January 2016, Endress+Hauser will take over around 50 people from the former Endress+Hauser representative Colsein. Carlos Varela (33), General Manager of Colsein, takes over responsibility for the newly founded sales center.
Focus on measurement and automation engineering
Endress+Hauser takes its sales activities in Colombia in its own hands with the acquisition of the Process Automation and Service segments from Grupo Colsein, the former Endress+Hauser representative. Carlos Varela will head the new sales center. “As a conglomerate, Colsein used to operate in a variety of different lines of business,” explains the engineer. “Now we can fully focus on measurement and automation engineering and on implementing the strategy of the Endress+Hauser Group.”
Carlos Varela is an industrial engineer with an MA in Business Administration. He began his career in 2005 as a member of the internal sales team at Colsein. From 2008 to 2012 he successfully managed the branch in Cali, returning to Bogotá in 2013 as General Director. “Managing a company in line with Endress+Hauser’s values fills me with pride and confidence,” says Carlos Varela. “My aim is to make sure that everybody in Colombia associates the name Endress+Hauser with quality and reliability.”
New customer segments
Three branch offices in Cali (south), Barranquilla (north) and Medellín (west) operate close to the customers across the oil & gas, food & beverage and water & wastewater industries. Carlos Varela: “We want to tap into new customer segments and gain market shares but also intensify existing relations and promote our range of products.” Plenty of potential is also seen in the mining industry.
More efficient response to the market
“Our own sales center will allow us to respond much more efficiently and quicker to the market,” says Michael Ziesemer, COO of the Endress+Hauser Group. “We are pleased that in Carlos Varela we found a manager who already knows the local market inside out and has managerial experience. Our very best wishes accompany him and his team.”
